We recently spent one night at a Galicia glamping site I had been wanting to stay for a long time: Cabanas do Barranco, in Serra de Outes. Really close to our base, I cannot believe it took us this long to uncover its gorgeousness!
Carefully brought to life in the Addomo architecture studio, the design took into account the intimacy of each building and the views of the nearby mountains of the Barbanza peninsula, Tremuzo, A Pena and Muros and Noia estuary. Every construction respected the existent forest trees and their roots, to come even more alive as the building shapes, lights and shades are defined by them. Lastly, they will delight any design and sustainable architecture enthusiast.

The Sheraton Hotel, Chongqing
As a budget traveler, I don’t often get to revel in the luxury of fancy hotels. However, a huge benefit of traveling in China is that the exchange rate is very favorable. Therefore, when I found myself in Chongqing gazing up at a hotel comprised of two gleaming towers of gold. I felt compelled to go inside and ask what their rates were.
Astonishingly, it was well within my budget, so I decided to stay for a couple of nights, which was probably one of the best decisions I ever made in China… Inside, everything from the spa to the bedsheets was decorated with gold – it was like entering a glittering, decadent palace – I had never seen anything like it! The customer service was absolutely second to none. Also, I asked the concierge where I could buy a swimming costume so that I could use the spa – he asked me my size and what style I wanted and sped off to the shopping center to buy one for me.
Also, they arranged for my favorite breakfast to be delivered to the room despite not being on their usual menu. That evening, as I sipped cocktails and champagne on the balcony overlooking the Yangtze River, I thought to myself; “I could get used to this!”

One of the coolest and quirkiest places we’ve ever stayed at is Lollis Homestay. The hostel is located in Dresden Neustadt. The name ‘Neustadt’ means New City, but in fact, the area is older than ‘Altstadt’, the old city, that was bombed to the ground in WW2 and later rebuilt. Neustadt is the ‘hipster’ center of town. Where you find independent shops, coffee shops, and a cool nightlife scene, as well as this, they have great street art. In fact, exploring Neustadt was one of our favorite things to do in Dresden!
The reason why we loved staying at Lollis so much. They upgraded us to the Trabant room. The most exclusive room in the hostel, where you get to sleep in a Trabant,
The iconic car from East Germany! The Trabant only fits a single bed. My husband had to sleep in another bed. It was fun nonetheless! It reminded me of my childhood, as we spent many nights camping in my mum’s old Fiat 127. Which smelled exactly like the Trabant. I would return in a heartbeat!
