I went to Split in Croatia for a week with my family. We stayed at Radisson Blu Resort it is about 30 minutes’ walk from Split Town. In fact, it is the 2nd largest city in Croatia after Zagreb, its population counting around 180 000 people. Split town is known for its beaches and the fortress-like complex at its center, Diocletian’s Palace, erected by the Roman emperor in the 4th century. Its sprawling remains include more than 200 buildings. Within its white stone walls.
It is by the coast and split has its own docks and just looking at the docks you can see that Croatia is an expensive place as the boats are big and expensive. The old town is a must to visit as it is a UNESCO world heritage and very stunning the old town has restaurants and shops and historical parts to explore.
The old town has people dressed up as Roman soldiers and they put a mini show on in the main area of the old town every day. Also, Croatia was the first place I tried truffle oil and prosciutto ham pasta that was one of the best things I tried In Croatia and Croatian oils are amazing too. The yellow tuna is great as fresh as it is by the sea, so the fish caught fresh on the day.
One of the days, we decide to adventure out to the best thing Croatia has to offer in my eyes. As my brother went to Croatia the year before for 2 weeks and highly recommended it and it was a Plitvice Lakes national park. Is a 295-sq. -Km forest reserve in central Croatia. It’s known for a chain of 16 terraced lakes, joined by waterfalls that extend into a limestone canyon. It has a walking trail that runs along the waterfalls, so you don’t get lost. One thing I highly recorded is to higher out a rowing boat out and they are in the middle fo the waterfalls and you get great views from the boat and they say no swimming but we went and they did not tell us off.
The split has lots of beats that take you the many islands Croatia has to offer. Bros. Was an island that we went to for a day and it was very beautiful. It’s best known for the white-pebble beach Zlatni Rat. That beach is very popular and we just walked 10 minutes out and found a more quiet area on the beach.
One downside on a weekend is that some taxi drivers won’t take you from Split town back to your hotel as they only said they would take you to the airport. My mom got angry with them as they would not have it taken us back to our hotel that was only like 5 minutes’ drive. We finally, after 10 minutes compared to them, we decided to walk back to the hotel as our hotel was by the beach so we can walk along the coast edge for about 30 minutes until we got to our hotel.
