Positive Outlook: Why You Need To Be Wearing Bambo Clothing Right Now
When Positive Outlook sent me some of their new Bambo clothing collection, I was happy to tell my audience about the great work they are doing to help the environment.
You normally don’t hear about brands creating clothes with the environment in mind, but you do hear a great deal about the negative effects the clothing industry has on our environment. I go into more detail about this later on.
I came across Positive Outlook clothing when I was in Coventry, England – that is where I went to university. I was given one of their jumpers for my birthday present about 3 years ago and loved it. They are an eco-clothing brand that makes all their clothes with bamboo.
They just make Bambo clothing. They are based in Coventry with a small shop but they also have an online shop for those of you that can’t make it to Coventry!
I got the opportunity to try out some of their new spring/summer collection. They sent me some samples, and I have to say that the bamboo cotton is very soft. I never knew that Bambo could be turned into such very soft clothes.
Why you need Eco-Clothing
Global warming is a big topic that is being talked about all the time and if you don’t know about it, then you must have been living under a rock. The melting ice cape, sea levels rising, cloud forests dying, and wildlife losing homes and food, are all the effects of global warming. Global warming has been linked to our use of fossil fuels, over-population, and agriculture.
It is causing changes in the Earth’s climate and long-term weather. Fashionista.com says that the fashion industry emits as much greenhouse gas as all of Russia. That is why the fashion industry needs to be using more eco- friendly clothing like what Positive outlook is doing, using Bambo Clothing.
What is Bamboo?
It is a giant wood grass tree that grows chiefly in the tropics and can also be found in cold mountains. There are about 1,000 species of bamboo says Science Daily. The stem can grow up to 40 meters. They can be grown anywhere in the world.
Bamboo is very eco-friendly as it requires no chemicals and very little water to grow. It also releases more oxygen into the environment than most plants. It is one of the fastest growing plants, as it only takes 4 years to fully grow.
What is Bamboo Clothing?
Bambo is a way better material to use than cotton. As cotton farming, on the other hand, famously requires extensive irrigation and chemical spraying – a single cotton T-shirt can use up to 2,700 liters of water in the growing process! Bamboo is by far the greener option.
The way that clothes are made from bamboo is a process that uses sodium hydroxide. That is also called caustic soda that breaks down the woody bamboo. Then it is soaked in the chemical to dissolve cellulose. When sodium hydroxide is used responsibly, it will have no effect on the environment and workers health.
Bamboo is super soft. Some say that Bamboo is to cotton, what cashmere is to wool – a much softer and luxurious feel.
Enough of me rambling on about how ethical clothing should be used in the fashion business and how they should use natural clothing materials. Everyone wants to really know what Bamboo clothes are like.
When the clothes arrived I was very excited to see how they felt. I have never owned any Bambo clothing items. Thinking about where the fibers came from to make the clothes, made me wonder if they would be actually soft because they come from a tree and trees are not soft they have a rough texture feeling.
I received a box of very nicely packaged clothes and the box was also eco-friendly. Inside the box was a Bambo t-shirt, jumper/hoodie, a rucksack and 2 Bamboo toothbrushes. The last thing I revived was bamboo underwear men’s.
The bambo toothbrushes come in its own recyclable box and are £7 for a pack of two. Did you know that 2 billion plastic toothbrushes end up in our oceans and landfills every year! Their toothbrushes are made from Mao Bamboo and environmentally sustainable timber that is water resistant. The best thing about them is when the bush is worn out they are biodegradable.
The next item I received was Bambo underwear. They are very comfortable and made with organic cotton. They are really soft and better than most branded underwear. They are great value at just £12 for one or 3 for £30 that works out at £10 each.
They also sent me a T-shirt that was white with their logo imprinted small on the front. It is a slim fit that is 70% Bamboo and 20% organic cotton and cost £24 and that is a bargain for an extremely soft t-shirt.
As well as that, I also got one of their jumpers. It is not too thick, as it is a spring/ summer jumper. The jumper is dark heather blue but they have other colors. The tones of the jumper are meant to represent the British Coast. It uses their premium organic cotton and recycled polyester and all the clothes are made in the UK that uses eco-friendly inks. The jumper is the comfiest jumper I own now.
The last item I got was one of their rucksacks. The color of the travel day bag is dessert sands and this color is really nice and goes with nearly any style of clothes. It comes with lots of space to store your travel essentials. It has so much space that you can even fit a 15-inch laptop into it and has two side pockets and 1 large front pocket and an additional small front pocket for quick accesses
Overall, I highly recommend you try out their clothes for yourself and you won’t be disappointed. They are not expensive also, which is an added bonus. Also, all the clothes they offer are very silky smooth. These clothes are must-have essentials you need to pack for your travels.
I hope you enjoyed this post. Hope you have taken into consideration how amazing our environment is and how you can save it from global warming effects. Let me know your thoughts on sustainable fashion in the comments below.
